About us....
We are, designer Nicola Helgesen and German born Photographer Andreas Bleckmann. Having joined forces romantically and professionally in East London way back in 2002, we have worked together on a wide range of creative projects before relocating to Hastings in 2017.
It’s hard to define exactly what attracted us to the Old Town, but the place has a very special energy, a hotch-potch of buildings, unruly fishing harbour, beautiful beaches, cliff top walks, loads of great pubs, gorgeous unique stores and an independent, creative community with a strong music, art and cultural heritage. I guess thats why we fell in love with this very special area.
Tightly packed and woven together by a network of smugglers twittens, the town is surrounded by an expansive, undulating area of outstanding natural beauty. Every time we step out of our house and look through our gnarly street towards the sea, we are reminded why we choose this wild, somewhat mysterious place for our home.
What we do ....
Set in the Heart of Hastings conservation area, oldtownhaus is an online store and guest accommodation, initially housed only in a late Georgian building arranged over three floors, we now offer additional guest accommodation with stunning sea views in St Leonards-on-Sea.
The original oldtownhaus has been restored and designed with great care using traditional materials in natural tones, the space serves as a backdrop and inspiration for a carefully considered range of homeware, furniture, art and books, all of which can be viewed online in our SHOP or at the house by appointment only. We can also arrange for items to be available when you stay in our accommodation which consists of two double guest bedrooms with private bathroom arranged over the second floor of the house.
With gorgeous roof top views to the front, East hill and the funicular railway to the rear, these tranquil rooms are ideally located, close to great pubs, shops, the beach and fishing harbour We can also occasionally make the entire house available for special bookings.
Finally our elegant St Leonards apartment offers relaxing self-catering accommodation with glorious sea and park views. The space has been designed for relaxation, the calming soft tones and simple furnishings work beautifully with the high ceilings and glorious windows. The choice of natural linens and the little decorative touches create a gentle space in which to unwind. The accommodation consists of two double bedrooms, a well appointed kitchen and bathroom.
